Myanmar maid (domestic worker) Yasutha is a nanny, cook and a housekeeper
too. She is now available for transfer.
Background
Yasutha is ethnic Nepalese born - same as her parents and grandparents. She
can speak her own mother tongue (Nepalese) as well as Burmese and English.
She has a secondary education (10 years) and speaks and understands English
quite well.
She is from Mogok, two days from the commercial capital Yangon. There her
father used to work on his father. Now he is retired and his 4 sons work on
the land. Yasutha is 4th among 6 children.
Yasutha is married and a mother of two daughters aged 4 and 9. Her husband,
unable to find a job, stays at home and takes care of the children.
Employment History
- Her first job was a disaster. She lasted 2 months because she was afraid
of Madam who was rather impatient with her while teaching her the ropes.
Madam had two children aged 4 and 6.
- Currently she is working for a local Chinese family of 4, the youngest
of whom is 17. Madam will soon stop working and so Yasutha will be
redundant.
Her duties are cooking, cleaning and laundry.
Childcare
For 2 months she was required to care for two children aged 4 and 6. In her
current position the children are teens or older. However, Yasutha is a
mother of two herself. The children are aged 4 and 9. She loves children
and looks forward to working with little ones. She is willing to take care
of a newborn. She is willing to sleep with baby and do the night feeding.
She says she can handle a newborn as she is a mother of two herself.
Cooking
She can cook Nepalese, Myanmar, Indian and Chinese food. She says her Indian
cooking is better than her Chinese cooking. In her own country she cooked
Indian all but Chinese food.
Some of the Indian dishes she is familiar with are
- Chapati, puri, perata, thosai
- Chicken curry, sambar curry, dhal
- Fish curry, fried fish
- Vegetables
- Mutton curry
Personality
Yasutha is friendly and personable. She neat and tidy in both appearance and
dress. She speaks English fairly well. Her pronunciation of English words is
fairly accurate, better than that of the typical Myanmar domestic worker in
Singapore.
Though she has only one year experience, she is not demanding. She is
unassuming and will accept any reasonable offer.
