Filipino maid (domestic worker) Juvy Curammeng is a nanny, cook and a
housekeeper too. She will be available from late November 09 onwards as she
is planning to go home when her current contract expires.
Prospective employers planning to hire in late November might consider
interviewing her before she goes home on 9 November 2009.
Background
Juvy is from the northern province of Isabela, about 12 hours from Manila by
bus. There her father grows rice, tobacco and corn on his farm, assisted by
Juvy's husband.
Juvy is 2nd among 4 children, the eldest among the girls. She has a
secondary education and speaks and understands English fairly well.
Employment History
Other than a temporary job in the Philippines as a shop assistant for a few
months, her current position with a local Chinese family is her first job
ever.
Her host family consists of the 2 parents and their 3 children aged 9, 6 and
2 years when Juvy started working for the family. As Madam is working, she
leaves care of the 3 children, cooking, cleaning, laundry and marketing to
Juvy.
That Juvy has done well at her first job there is no doubt for as her
employer says (writes, really) "Juvy performed most of her duties to our
satisfaction. She is reliable and responsible." More
of what employer writes about Juvy.
Cooking
According to her employer, Juvy can cook Chinese food well and seeks to
improve her culinary skill by referring to magazines and consulting her
friends. That the family eat at home most days (unless their outing
straddles dinner time) is testimony to Juvy culinary competence.
Childcare
Juvy is a mother of two children herself, so taking care of 3 is only one
step up. The children in her care were 2, 6 and 9 at the start. Juvy not
only attended to their physical needs (seeing to their meals, bathing the
youngest child, reading to them or telling them stories, playing with them,
etc.) Juvy has a close rapport with the children.
Personality
Juvy is still young and so still adaptible. She has sufficient experience
and after a visit her family (her children are now 8 and 6 and look forward
to her homecoming (or is it homegoing)) she will start her next two years
recharged.
She pleasant, neat and tidy in appearance.
