Employment History
- Before coming to work in Singapore she had worked as a domestic helper
in her hometown as well as in Manila for a total on one year.
- Her first situation was in Ilolo where she worked for a family of 4
for 5 months. Her duties were cooking, cleaning and laundry. There were no
children in the family.
- She also worked in Manila for 6 months for a family of 5. Madam was
working and left care of her 3-year old son to Marivic. Marivic also did the
cooking, laundry and cleaning.
- In Singapore she first worked for a Filipino family of 5. Madam was
working and left care of her youngest child aged 4 to Marivic. Life was
hectic for Marivic and she found herself working endlessly. Madam was too
busy to guide her and being less experienced, Marivic was unable to cope.
- She was then transferred to a local Chinese family of 4, including two
teenaged children. Marivic's duties were cleaning, laundry and marketing.
Marivic left when there was an issue about her salary.
Cooking
Marivic has little exposure to Chinese cuisine. She only cooked Filipino
food for her first Singapore employer (a Filipino) and in her own country.
In her other Singapore situation, Granny did the cooking and Marivic helped
out with the nitty gritty - helping get the ingredients ready for the chef.
Marivic is willing to learn cooking for her next employer.
Childcare
Marivic has taken care of helping to take care of two boys one aged 3 and
the other aged 4; one in the Philippines and one in Singapore. Besides
taking care of the child's physical needs (such as feeding) Marivic also
taught the child and played with him to sing, etc. She entertained the child
with her singing.
Personality
Marivic is soft-spoken, perhaps a little bashful. She is unassuming and
modest in her expectations. She is your supermaid, but she is not asking for
super terms. In fact, she will be happy to get a job. Marivic is unlikely to
be troublesome.
