From the province of Albay, she is 37 years old and married with 5 children 15, 13, 11, 8 and 8 years old, the last two are twins. Her father is a farmer in the province of Albay, 12 hours from Manila by bus. She is 3rd among 6 children. Maribel has a secondary education and speaks English fairly well.

Work History

1. Before coming to Singapore she had worked in a garment factory for 18 years. She generally worked 6 days a week and sometimes on Sundays as well. Her last job description was Assistant Line Leader. She is an accomplished dressmaker, able to sew a complete dress from scratch, given the pattern. She can sew curtains, pyjamas, etc. When the factory closed down, she came to work in Singapore.

2. She first came in Jul 08 and worked for a family of 5, which included Madam and her nuclear family and her unmarried adult sister. All the adults in the family were working and left 3 children aged 7, 5 and 4 to Maribel. On a typical school day she would escort the 7-year old to school, leaving the younger ones with the parents who were still at home. Around midday she would escort the 5-year old to school, the 4-year old child tagging along. Then with the 4-year old in tow, she would and bring home the 7-year old and serve the 7-year lunch, prepared earlier. That being her first job, it was quite hectic for her and Madam thought she needed someone with more experience.

3. So she went to work for SHC whose family consisted of herself, her husband, her mother-in-law and two children aged 10 and 13. Madam was working and left the housekeeping and childcare to Maribel. Granny did the cooking much of the time with Maribel assisting. When Granny was busy, she would let Maribel do the cooking. Maribel got along very well with the 10-year old, but has not been able to break the ice with the older child. When she had free time she would play badminton with the 10-year old.

Cooking
As a housewife she cooked for her family Filipino food. In Singapore she learnt to cook Chinese food from employer SHC's mother-in-law. However, her skills are basic and need improving.

Childcare
Maribel has taken care of or helped to take care of 5 children for two families, the youngest of them being a 4-year old.

Personality
Maribel is no supermaid, but she is modest and unassuming. She is not demanding and is certainly better than a first-time. However, she is prepared to start from scratch and will consider any offer.
