employer, a Canadian national teaching at the American school gives her a perfect 10 for Proficiency in English.
Employment History
- She was a domestic worker in the Convent of Th Pious Disciples (in
Manila) from 1999 to 2003.
- From Feb 03 until Sep 03 she worked for 2 employers in Singapore; she
was not able to adjust quickly enough.
- She did better with with her next employer and worked for her for over 1
year. However, she found the situation stressful and asked for a transferred
- She did well in the employ of Mrs Phua, her next employer,
working for her for 3½ years until Aug 08. She took care of Madam's 2
children from the age of 1 and 5 for the next 3½ year until Madam
quit her job to devote full time to her children.
- Her next employer Natalie was an expat from the U.S. who was one of the
casualties of the global downturn and had to leave for home after 4 months,
in Dec 08. Before leaving she recommended Marivic to Erin, her current
employer.
- Since Dec 08 she has been working for Erin, an expat from Canada. Madam
and her hubby are both teachers in the Americal school and will be going
home for their summer vacation. During this time, they will not need the
services of Marivic.
Childcare
Marivic has taken care of or helped to take care of 12 children in all with
ages ranging from 1 to 12. She cared for Mrs Phua's 2 children aged 1 and 5
at the start for 3½ years. Childcare duties for Marivic included
taking them to the the East Coast Park nearby, reading to them, telling them
stories and playing with them besides attending to their physical needs -
bathing them, feeding them, bathing them, etc.
Cooking
She taught herself to cook Filipino food and when she went to work in the
convent, she has 4 years to practise and improve. She learnt Chinese cuisine
while working for her very first employer, from Madam's mother. Thereafter
she improved as she went along. During the past 10 months, in the employ of
two western families, she taught herself to cook western dishes using a cook
book for instruction. Erin, her current employer,
rates her cooking 5 out of a possible 5.
Personality
Marivic is alert and fairly confident. Asked how she rates her own cooking,
she does not hesitate to say she is good at it. Erin (current employer) says
her cooking is good.
Marivic is neat and tidy in appearance and dresses simply.
Update
Since the above profile was prepared for Marivic she has gone to work for a
family of 4 including two children aged 3½ and 1½. Her
employer will be going home for good on 5th November 2009.
